Patrick Murphy and the Alabama Crimson Tide softball team will look to advance to Sunday’s championship matchup in the Tuscaloosa Regional when they take on the Southeastern Louisiana Lions on Saturday afternoon from Rhoads Stadium. Murphy and the Crimson Tide were able to take down the USC Upstate Spartans on Friday 1-0 while Southeastern Louisiana upset the Clemson Tigers 6-2 to have the opportunity to take on the Tide. Yesterday’s win gave Coach Murphy his 1,300 career win as he and the Crimson Tide are now just two wins away from advances to the Super Regionals of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. AMITE — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a shoplifting suspect who stole from an Amite Dollar General in April. Deputies said on April 23, a man entered the Dollar General store on Highway 16 around 5:30 p.m. and reportedly stole numerous frozen food items and laundry detergent.
Woman Surrenders After Allegedly Defrauding SNAP Program Of $70,000
A Mississippi woman recently turned herself in for intentionally defrauding a low-income federal food assistance program. Following a SNAP fraud investigation carried out by the Mississippi Department of Human Services’ Investigations Division, the Pike County woman, Katrina Harris, gave herself up to authorities. Snap is the government’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which aims to reduce poverty and food insecurity for low-income families by assisting families with their grocery budgets to allow them to continue to grow economically. Deputies searching for man who reportedly committed check fraud, identity theft in Tickfaw
TICKFAW — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is attempting to identify a forgery and identity theft suspect. Deputies say that on March 24, a white man wearing a baseball cap, sleeveless black tank top, black pants and light-colored shoes entered a store at the corner of Highway 1064 and Whiskey Lane and attempted to use a fraudulent check. He also reportedly attempted to use someone else's ID.

Man accused of killing mom of 4 while on a date is arrested after calling for help with flat tire
NEW ORLEANS (TCD) -- A 25-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly fatally stabbing a mother of four while they were on a date and trying to steal her car. According to The Acadiana Advocate, on Saturday, April 27, at around 2:30 p.m., Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a stabbing call in Hammond and found 31-year-old Carol Allen injured in the back seat of a car. Paramedics took her to nearby hospital, where she later died from her stabbing injuries.
Dept. of Labor recovers more than $45K in back wages for 57 Shreveport employees
According to a release from the department, We Care Sitting Services LLC in Shreveport failed to pay overtime to 57 employees. The total amount recovered for the employees was $45,441.
