Iowa man charged with stealing police cruiser
DES MOINES, IOWA — A Newton man is accused of stealing a Des Moines Police cruiser after an officer left it running while he responded to call. Police say an officer was investigating a report illegal drug activity around 4 p.m. on May 5 when someone jumped into the officer’s vehicle and sped off.

Westwood Clubhouse site design grading approved by council
Following city council action on May 6, it seems as though the Westwood Golf Course Clubhouse is moving forward slowly and steadily. The bids for the site design grading even came in about $100,000 underestimate and was awarded to local contractor Sully Construction, Inc. for $68,036.42. It was a welcomed sight.
Iowa teens arrested after report of stolen vehicle, pursuit ends in wreck
NEWTON, Iowa — Two 15-year-old boys are facing felony theft charges after leading Newton police in a stolen vehicle Monday morning. According to the Newton Police Department, officers received a report of a burglary at a Newton business, in which two vehicles were stolen, shortly before 9 a.m. Monday. The department also received a separate report that one of the stolen vehicles was on the northwest side of town.
