Agents with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission seized an illegal still at a home in north-central Texas on Sept. 1, according to the agency.

At around 4:00pm today, Everman Fire/EMS and Police were dispatched to a crash in the 200 block of Shelby Road near Thomas Place. A female pedestrian was struck by a cargo trailer from a pickup truck as it traveled along Shelby Road. The woman sustained significant injuries in the accident, prompting Everman paramedics to call for CareFlite.

Two incidents occurred in Crowley, Texas this week. The first incident involves the police seeking help in identifying two men connected to a shooting outside the Crowley 9th Grade Campus. No injuries were reported, but property damage occurred. The second incident involves two men being charged with falsifying documents to enroll in a North Texas high school. The school district took immediate action upon discovering the fake documents.

This week in Mansfield, Texas, two incidents occurred that raised concerns for public safety. In the first incident, a homeowner discovered a snake curled up in their bathroom sink and called emergency services for assistance. The local police department had an expert who safely removed the snake from the home and released it back into the wild. The second incident involves a former teacher from Mansfield ISD who is suing the district for emotional and mental distress caused by a student who later committed a shooting at Timberview High School. The teacher claims the district failed to protect her from the disruptive and aggressive student.

Former teacher Aretha Hall is suing Mansfield ISD for emotional distress following a 2021 school shooting. Hall alleges the district failed to address reported threats from the shooter, Timothy Simpkins.

Possessing distilling equipment without a permit is considered a misdemeanor in Texas and punishable by a fine of $100-$1,000.
