Lonowski, Smith moves forward in District 33 race
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings Senator Steve Halloran has reached his term limits and after the Novemeber election there will be a new senator for District 33. That race was in the spotlight during Nebraska’s primary election, as Dan Lonowski, Michelle Smith, Paul Hamelink, and Joshua Frederick ran to represent the district in Lincoln.
Tuba players gather in Nebraska for a historic musical premiere at UNK
LINCOLN, Neb. — Tuba players from across the Great Plains are coming to Central Nebraska for a three-day event honoring a historic occurrence. The Great Plains Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference is taking place at UNK's Fine Arts Recital Hall in Kearney this Thursday from 7:30 pm and runs till Saturday, May 18.
$5 million Axtell Community School bond passes
AXTELL — The $5 million school bond for expansion and renovation of the current Axtell Community School passed after the primary election held on Tuesday, May 14. According to the Axtell Community School 2024 Bond, per the unofficial results, the vote for the bond passed 222 to 167, with 389 votes cast.
UNK Track & Field Awaits Outdoor Championships
KEARNEY – The Nebraska-Kearney track and field teams finished up their regular season by competing in the Concordia Twilight and the Loper Twilight meets this weekend. The NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships field will be announced early next week; around the Top 20 in each event will head to Emporia May 23-25.
Kearney hospital earns 'A' rating for patient safety, among top in Nebraska
KEARNEY, Neb. — A Kearney hospital has again earned an "A" rating for patient safety and was one of only three hospitals in Nebraska to receive it. According to CHI Health, Good Samaritan in Kearney has once again earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.
UNK broadcast class makes visit to NRG Media’s Kearney studio
KEARNEY — A University of Nebraska – Kearney broadcast class made a visit to the NRG Media’s Kearney studio during the morning of Thursday, May 16. Ford Clark, who teaches Communication Law, Radio Workshop, Sports Radio Workshop, Audio Production, brought one of his classes to the studio for a tour.
