KAUKAUNA - More than 50 residents from the Round House Manor apartment building in Kaukauna were displaced Tuesday night when a tornado tore the roof off the building.

Residents are currently staying at a temporary shelter and the Red Cross is working to find permanent housing for those displaced, according to a press release from the city. No injuries have been recorded.

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado hit Kaukauna during Tuesday night's severe thunderstorm producing 95 mph winds.

According to the NWS, the tornado developed at about 8:57 p.m. along Buchanan Road, snapping trees and damaging some garages. It moved northeast for 1.36 miles toward the apartment complex on Bicentennial Court, and lifted off the ground when it reached the Fox River, in Central Park.

The storm also knocked down multiple trees throughout the city and knocked out power for roughly 4,200 customers last night.

By Wednesday morning Kaukauna Utilities reported it had restored power to most of its customers with approximately 40 households still without power by 6 a.m.

For those still without power, the city opened a charging station in the community room at the Street, Park and Recreation building located at 207 Reaume Ave.

Kaukauna's tornado was one of three to touch down in Wisconsin during Tuesday's severe weather, according to the NWS. The other two tornados were confirmed in Marathon County, one in the village of Edgar, where it collapsed a barn, and one in the village of Unity, which recorded 105 mph winds.

All three tornados were rated as EF1, which are considered "moderate," and can have winds between 86 and 110 mph.
