3 displaced in Kapaa fire, estimated fire damage is $500,000

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A fire in a Kapaa residence Saturday evening has left three people displaced.

Firefighters received the call at about 6:20 p.m. One off-duty firefighter was nearby when the fire was reported, and responded to the scene by helping with initial fire operations.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the single-story home on fire with all occupants outside and safe.

A resident of the home was treated for smoke inhalation and transported by officials to Wilcox Hospital out of precaution.

No other injuries were reported.

The incident caused significant fire and smoke damage throughout the home.

Fire inspectors estimate damage to the structure and its contents to be roughly $500,000.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross are assisting the displaced individuals.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Officials say no further information is available at this time.
