One person died Friday night after being hit by at least one vehicle in Kansas City, Missouri.

The incident happened about 9:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Independence Avenue.

Police said a silver Chevy Silverado struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.

A separate vehicle followed the Chevy, and the Silverado later returned to the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced deceased.

Police said there is evidence that a second vehicle possibly struck the pedestrian.
