Palm Beach board rejects zoning requests for Wells Fargo redevelopment
A plan to redevelop a portion of a key Midtown Palm Beach property has faced pushback from the Town Council at a recent meeting and from residents wary of the potential for overdevelopment in an already-busy area. And a recent recommended denial from the town's zoning board has prompted the developer to regroup. The project proposed building seven residential duplexes on what is now an expansive parking lot that is part of the Wells Fargo site on the northeast corner of South County Road and Royal Palm Way. Boca Raton Breaks Ground on Jeffery Street Railroad Crossing Near Clint Moore
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The City of Boca Raton has broken ground on the Jeffery Street Railroad-Highway Grade Crossing, a new public crossing just east of NW 2nd Avenue, where Clint Moore ends. It will replace the former NW 28th Street crossing. City officials call it an important east-west connection for northeast Boca Raton, one that will reconnect neighborhoods across the rail corridor and make it easier for residents, visitors and businesses to get around. The city says police, fire rescue and other first responders will gain improved emergency response capabilities, while drivers should see better traffic circulation and a more efficient local transportation network. The crossing is also expected to support economic activity and future investment in the area, and it will provide convenient access to North Park, which is still under construction. A $2 million Congressional Community Project Funding award will help pay for the work, which the city is coordinating with Florida East Coast Railway, LLC, and the Florida Department of Transportation. More details are available on the city’s Jeffery Street webpage . Get BocaNewsNow.com email alerts sent directly to your phone — sign up for BocaNewsNow.com Email and breaking

'Egg-cellent' or chopping block? Stuart asks residents to weigh in on backyard chickens
STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — Stuart residents can weigh in on whether backyard hens should be allowed in the city as officials consider a possible ordinance. The city’s survey asks residents whether they support allowing up to four hens at homesteaded single-family homes and whether they would consider keeping chickens themselves. The responses will help city leaders decide whether to adopt an ordinance and what safeguards to include.
