The notoriously slow roll out of legal marijuana stores across the state is about to speed up, at least in Central New York. Two legal dispensaries — one on Syracuse’s far west side and another in Fulton — are scheduled to open this Saturday, May 18. Another, in downtown Syracuse, is aiming to open on Memorial Day weekend.

Man who raped Le Moyne student sentenced to max - 50 years in prison
Syracuse, N.Y. – A man convicted of raping a Le Moyne College student in her campus apartment has been sentenced to 50 years in prison, the maximum possible sentence. Jerel Walker, 36, was convicted of predatory sexual assault, rape, sexual abuse, attempted criminal sexual act, two counts of burglary and assault after defending himself at trial.
