JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) - About 3:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon reports of a vehicle crashing into a building at 631 South Rangeline, Chipotle Mexican Grill, alerted Joplin E-911.

Joplin Fire Dept, Joplin Police responded.

On scene we learn a small passenger car had jumped the curb and struck the electric boxes on the rear of the building. More specifically had destroyed the protective conduit that travels to and from the building to the box(es).

No one in the car was injured. The car did not require a tow.  It was driven from the scene.

Joplin Police tell us it was an accident. Young driver was inexperienced with a manual shift vehicle.

Liberty Utilities were summoned to inspect the boxes to see if they can continue, business as normal.

Due to the damage, electricity was cut to the building.

Chipotle is closed for now.

They will need to secure and city-approved electrician to repair the damage and then be inspected by the city before Liberty Utilities can restore power, which is protocol for any structure.

Kay Jewelers located also in the building continue business as normal. It did not affect their power.

The Joplin Health Dept was contacted also, it is unknown their response to the situation. That information was not available at the time of this initial release of details.
