JONESVILLE — The city of Jonesville will hold its 18th annual residential spring clean-up on Saturday, April 27.

The event provides an opportunity for Jonesville residents to shed unwanted junk each year with LRS Waste Management scheduled to begin pick-up at 7 a.m. Saturday.

City staff said residents may begin placing unwanted items at the curbside this week and residents are encouraged to participate in order to comply with the city's outdoor storage "junk" ordinance otherwise citations may be issued.

There is not a limit as to how many items can be placed at the curb and eligible items are manageable bags or boxes weighing 50 pounds or less; furniture; toys; bicycles; home fixtures; and wheel rimes.

Unacceptable items include construction materials, yard waste, liquid or hazardous waste, tires, motor oil and car batteries.

The Jonesville American Legion Post 195 collects scrap metal items year-round as a fundraiser to support projects like the Freedom Memorial. Those with scrap metal should call Larry Rathbun at 517-425-1321.
