    NWS confirms EF-0 tornado hit Johnston Friday morning

    JOHNSTON, Iowa (WHO) — The National Weather Service says an initial storm survey has confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down in Johnston early Friday morning.

    The NWS said damage from the twister appeared to start near Terra Park and continued on a three-mile path that extended northeast toward Beaver Drive. The peak winds were estimated at 85 mph.

    The twister was on the ground for about four minutes. Damage to trees, homes, and power lines was reported.

    The area was included in a Tornado Warning at the time.
