Police: New Jersey man tried to con woman out of $40,000
New Jersey man accused of trying to scam senior citizen. A New Jersey man is facing charges for allegedly trying to scam a Colonie resident out of $40,000. Dhruv P. Patel, 33, of Franklin Park, is accused of posing as a member of the Federal Trade Commission in a phone call. Patel told the resident that his name was “Patrick” and he claimed that she was a victim of identity theft and should remove all funds from her bank accounts and turn them over to him for safekeeping, Colonie Police said.

Man struck and killed by garbage truck backing up on Greenwich Village street: Police
A man was stuck and killed by a garbage truck that was going in reverse down a street in Manhattan, according to police. The incident occurred just after 5 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of West 4th Street and Cornelia Street in Greenwich Village, police said. The driver of a private garbage truck was heading on West 4th Street and stopped on Cornelia Street, then put the truck in reverse.
DOJ: Man sentenced for transporting stolen property
The DOJ says Zheng admitted that between June and December 2022, he stole merchandise from several home improvement stores in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and New York. Zheng later took these stolen items to his residence in Colonie.

Water main break cuts water to Cohoes neighborhood
Crews are repairing a water main break in Cohoes. People living on Western Ave. will have little to no water pressure until the break is fixed. Some discoloration of the water is expected. While the city said it’s not harmful, they advise against washing white laundry right after it’s fixed.
