Dripping Springs High School announced its Top 10 for the Class of 2024: Valedictorian William Johns, Salutatorian Jaiden Stankard, Milad Khezrefaridi, Brenna Putman, Lauren Kethley, Presley Cochran, Alyssa Stradling, Kira Granberry, Jasmine Zogaib and Keira Maghielse. The students will be recognized at the April 22 Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees meeting and at the Senior Academic Awards Ceremony on May 15. They will also be the first to walk the stage at the DSHS Class of 2024 graduation ceremony on May 31.

New LCRA drought plan limits watering with hefty fines
Starting May 1, all firm water customers of the Lower Colorado River Authority are required to initiate Stage 2 drought restrictions or face fines of up to $10,000 per violation. Firm water customers are cities, businesses, industries, and lakeside property owners that contract with the LCRA to draw water directly from the lakes.

School district announces teachers of the year for 2024
Dripping Springs ISD announced Karalise Moreno and Libby Geisinger as the District Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year, respectively, at the DSISD Board of Trustees meeting on Monday. Moreno and Geisinger were chosen by a volunteer committee comprised of retired educators, and will now represent DSISD in the Region 13 Teacher of the Year selection process this summer. Brooke Thompson receives Special Forces Association Excellence Award
Dripping Springs High School Senior Brooke Thompson poses with John Lopez after being named the recipient of the Special Forces Association Excellence Award. This award is given to students around the nation for scholastic excellence and military proficiency, in keeping with the traditions and ideals of the US Army Special Forces. Thompson is considered to be an exceptional student-athlete and leader who earned this award because of her outstanding leadership and commitment to service; she has contributed 21 hours of community service to local veterans and military organizations this year. She has also served as a co-captain of the DSHS swim team and president of the DSHS JROTC. Thompson plans to attend West Point after graduation.
