JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Johnson City man was arrested on Monday morning and charged with aggravated domestic assault and misdemeanor vandalism after he allegedly threatened someone with a utility knife Sunday night.

A release from the Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) said Valeriano Portillo, 44, was arrested following the incident, which took place at around 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Lark Street.

The JCPD said officers responded to the domestic disturbance and determined Portillo allegedly got into an argument with an individual at a residence, threatened them with a utility knife and damaged the person’s property.

Portillo was arrested on Monday at 3:55 a.m. and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, the JCPD said.
