News Channel 11 spoke with Julia Turpin, Director of the Johnson City Public Library.

“All of the beautiful hardwood first-floor flooring is going to be replaced. It has reached the end of life, and we can’t refinish it anymore, so it’ll all be removed and replaced throughout that period,” Turpin said.

In addition, the library will install vinyl, non-slip flooring around the facility.

“As soon as people come back when we reopen, they’ll immediately notice the new flooring; it’s going to be quiet, non-slip, and easy to clean. It’s just a needed upgrade for the facility. We hate that we’re going to be closed, but folks, I think, are going to be really pleased with the improvements to the building,” Turpin said.

If you have a borrowed item that’s due between renovation dates, it will now be due on May 1, the website said.
