Jersey Shore, Pa. — A 911 call led police to a stand off and caused a local hospital to go on lock down this Wednesday in Jersey Shore.

At approximately 11:45 a.m. members of the Lycoming Regional Police Department (LRPD) were dispatched to 348 Glover St. in Jersey Shore Borough for an alleged disturbance involving a mother and son.

When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with the 911 caller who told police that she had just come home from work and found her door had been forced open. The woman said that she cautiously entered her home and found a book bag belonging to her adult son, according to LRPD.

Her son, identified as Matthew James Munro, 38, then allegedly called out to her and said, "I kicked your fucking door down." The woman told police that Munro was acting agitated and told her that he was working "undercover," which made her feel unsafe and prompted her to call 911. She also told police that Munro did not have permission to enter the home, he had a substance abuse disorder, and that he had recently been released from prison.

Police attempted to make contact with Munro, who was still inside the residence. When police identified themselves, Munro allegedly yelled "I have a service weapon, it's a 9mm, it's loaded, and I am going to unload it," according to the report by LRPD. Officers retreated a safe distance and requested additional police units.

Officers attempted several times to get Munro to exit the residence by using a patrol car's intercom system. At one point Munro allegedly exited the rear of the residence and told officers, "F*** you, you can't arrest me." According to LRPD, Munro refused commands to exit and returned back inside the residence.

Police established a perimeter and multiple law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies responded to assist on scene. Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital went on lock down "out of an abundance of caution," according to a statement from hospital officials, but the hospital's emergency department did remain open.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Munro exited the residence and was taken into custody as he attempted to go back inside. According to LRPD, Munro was found to be in possession of a firearm, which was located inside the residence. Police also seized a long rifle from Munro's possession and drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

Munro was subsequently arraigned in front of MDJ Dieter on criminal charges of criminal trespass, possessing instruments of crime, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was denied bail and committed to Lycoming County Prison.
