Motorcyclist dies after crashing into car in Salem
PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A man is dead after a crash between a motorcycle and car Wednesday morning, according to the Salem Police Department. Just after 7 a.m., officers responded to reports of a crash on the 4300 block of SE Commercial Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the rider of the motorcycle, 32-year-old Zachary Hendrickson, dead at the scene.

Fire District extinguishes early morning Monmouth fire
The Polk County Fire District No. 1 was dispatched to a report of an apartment fire with a possible trapped victim April 19 at 8:07 a.m. According to PCFD, units arrived on the scene at 8:11 a.m. with smoke and flames showing from an upstairs apartment on Clay Street in Monmouth. The apartment occupant met firefighters outside and reported that she had been alone in the apartment with her two dogs, one of which had run out of the apartment with her. Nobody else was inside the apartment.

A tumultuous argument at a house party turned deadly landed a Salem man with a life sentence after the 2022 murder has finally seen a court's judgment. Cesar Yovanni Alvarez-Alcazar, 20 at the time of the crime, was handed down a life sentence on Tuesday for the murder of Jose Angel Rodriguez-Sanchez during a house party in Cornelius two years ago; this decision coming from a jury's verdict which held Alvarez-Alcazar guilty of escalating an argument to fatal violence, as KOIN reported.

Fire crews in Polk County put out a two-alarm barn fire Wednesday morning on Briedwell Road east of Dallas.
