JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ) The Jefferson City Police Department announced in a Thursday press release that there will be a street closure near Adkins Stadium during the second weekend of state track championships. Stadium Drive will be closed between Jackson Street and Mesa Avenue. The closure lasts from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Area athletes will take part in a couple dozen of the competitions Friday and Saturday at MSHSAA’s Class 3, 4 and 5 Track and Field Championships at Jefferson City High School. Washington, Union, St. Clair and Pacific will each send representatives in the Class 4 competition.

It will be a huge weekend on the prep sports scene as four local teams will look to repeat as state champions on the second weekend of the Missouri State High School Activities Association State Track and Field Meet while the area’s girls’ soccer teams take the pitch in hopes of advancing to the state semifinals next weekend as the quarterfinals will happen Saturday afternoon.
