Ozone Alert and Weather Forecast for Sunday and Memorial Day
An Ozone Alert has been issued for Sunday, affecting several areas including Saint John the Baptist Parish, Saint Bernard Parish, Plaquemines Parish, Jefferson Parish, and Saint Tammany on the North Shore. The orange level warning signifies unhealthy ozone levels for sensitive groups such as individuals with respiratory diseases, the elderly, and active children and adults. Outdoor exercisers should take caution and avoid overexertion. Nonetheless, the weather is anticipated to be warm, with temperatures ranging from 85 to 89 degrees, slightly higher than Saturday, and suitable for outdoor relaxation. Low humidity, a 10% chance of rain, and mostly dry conditions are expected, with the possibility of a pop-up shower. The UV index is extreme at 11, making sun protection essential, especially for those attending events like the last day of Greek Fest. High ozone levels and the extreme UV index call for extra caution. Temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 80s throughout the evening, with overnight temperatures dropping to the mid-60s on the North Shore and around 70 degrees on the South Shore, providing a comfortable start to Memorial Day. Warmer temperatures are forecasted for Memorial Day, nearing or even reaching the low 90s, with a continued 10% chance of rain and low humidity. For those spending time on the lake, the UV index will be very high at 10, necessitating sun protection measures. Beachgoers can expect temperatures in the low to mid-80s but should also be aware of the high UV index. The week's temperature trends show temperatures in the 80s, with some reaching 90 degrees. Humidity is predicted to remain low through Memorial Day and into Tuesday and Wednesday, increasing later in the week.

Inside the Metairie school, yearbooks, trophies and other memorabilia would be packed and taken to a warehouse for storage, until they are sold at auction. The halls were bare of the banners that once announced the home of the Fighting Irish, and the oil painting of the school's namesake, a New Orleans writer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, had been removed from its place in the library.
