Behind the Scene: Hexed Haunted Attraction
At Hexed Haunted Attraction this will be their 15th year of celebrating fear and allowing people to have a great time and get scared. There are many people that work together to make Hexed as good as it is, one of which is Jordan and her sister Emily, and her father Tim. I was able to interview Jordan and I asked her why even start a haunted attraction, she said because she loved creating and loves Halloween, on top of wanting to have a safe, fun place that people could come together and make something that others enjoy as well. I asked her why choose the location that Hexed is at, she answered that it was because of the price range and property, the location has plenty of room to expand and build up, but the price wasn’t an arm and a leg. The last question I asked her was why would she want to do make-up at Hexed, she said, she has done haunted attraction make-up since before Hexed even opened, she started at the time just because she loves make-up and is interested in how SFX make-up works, she said she just keeps practicing more and more and is still trying to become more knowledgeable on haunted attraction make-up.

Civil War to come alive this weekend
ARARAT, Va. — Although the J.E.B. Stuart Birthplace Preservation Trust recently lost its tax-exempt status, the war isn’t over, or least mock battles held at that site. Once again the hollows surrounding Laurel Hill will come alive with the sounds of musket and artillery fire during the annual Civil War Encampment and Living History Weekend held there. It is scheduled both Saturday and Sunday at Maj. Gen. Stuart’s birthplace at 1091 Ararat Highway, just across the state line from Mount Airy via N.C. 104. The highlight of the Living History Week, now in its 34th year, are the mock battles between re-enactment troops in blue and gray who occupy authentic campsites. These are scheduled for 3 p.m. this Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, reflecting a change from a one-day Living History event in 2025 to two days this year. Educational perspective Yet the annual gathering focuses on more than just the combative aspects of the conflict that divided the nation during the 1860s. The encampment/re-enactment also will feature live music by The Fisher Peak Timber Rattlers, combined with dancing, in addition to a Civil War-era church service and music/storytelling by Stan Clardy. Different historical speakers and authors are slated
