Tyler Short of Walworth Big Foot made a pair of birdies over his final four holes to tie Edgerton’s Owen Wagie for top medalist honors at the Rock Valley Conference Championship at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville.

Both Short and Wagie finished at 3-under 69. Crimson Tide players occupied the rest of the top five spots on the leaderboard, and Edgerton, ranked No. 2 in the state in Division 2 by the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin, comfortably won the team title with a score of 294.

That total was 10 shots better than the score that won the Tide the Ashenfelter Invitational on the same course back on May 4. Cameron Lee finished third Wednesday by shaving five shots off his score from Ashenfelter, while Drew Gunderson took fourth after cutting his Ashenfelter score by seven.

Short’s Chiefs were second in Wednesday’s conference meet at 326.

The top players from other Gazette coverage-area schools included Brodhead’s Nolan Oliver (tied for seventh, 79), Evansville’s Klyne Johnson (tied for ninth, 80), Clinton’s Drew Maly (tied for ninth, 80) and Beloit Turner’s Ethan Hale (tied for 11th, 81).

All five of the area teams in the Rock Valley will compete at Evansville Golf Course for a WIAA Division 2 regional at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
