Janesville Craig routs Madison La Follette/East with 11-run inning

Bella Vitiaoli was the second Janesville Craig player in as many nights to drive in seven runs in a game, and freshman Ava Schaffner went 3 for 5 with four RBI as the Cougars rode an 11-run fifth inning to a 24-1 win over Madison La Follette/East on Wednesday.

Three of Vitaioli’s RBI came on a bases-loaded triple in the third inning, and then she scored, as well, on a throw back to the infield.

The Cougars needed just 13 hits to score their 24 runs. La Follette/East committed seven errors, and Craig worked 13 walks.

Craig is scheduled to host Waunakee at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for its final regular-season game. The Cougars earned the No. 6 seed in their Division 1 sectional bracket and will host No. 11 Elkhorn on Tuesday afternoon.
