JANESVILLE — The Rock County Transportation Coordinating Committee is hosting an annual gathering where local residents can ask questions and learn about public transportation options open to them.

The 2024 Transportation Summit will be held at the Daniel Hale Williams Resource Center, 1717 Center Ave., Janesville, on Friday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Rock County Transportation Coordinating Committee members include Rock County Board supervisors, the County Aging Unit, the Rock County Human Services Department, public, proprietary, and non-profit transportation providers, Rock County’s mobility manager, area planning organizations, elderly and disabled citizen advocates, and consumer and agency advocates. Members serve 3-year terms.

Rock County Transportation Coordinating Committee Chair Patty Hansberry said the event is critical to addressing community needs.

Transportation agencies such as the Janesville and Beloit transit systems and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will attend to learn about what the community needs, she said.

“The public should come to make their voices heard,” Hansberry said. “We want to find out about their needs so we can try new programs or connect them to ones that may already exist.”
