Catch up with what's going on in the girls lax playoff picture in this week's power rankings
There’s one week (sort of) left in the girls lacrosse season, but the playoff picture is pretty clear. You don’t often get that this time of year. While seeding is still up in the air in all four divisions, who will and won’t make the playoffs is already decided in Division I and II and all but decided in Division IV.
Cranston East keeps rolling, with its ace delivering key D-I victory over North Kingstown
NORTH KINGSTOWN — Gary Bucci enjoyed filling out his lineup card Friday. No disrespect to the rest of his pitching rotation but it’s a different mood when Cranston East’s coach sends John Devine to the mound. The senior right-hander was masterful yet again while silencing North Kingstown in an important Division I matchup. Devine fired...

Playoff bound Oakers top Nova's
COVENTRY - Thursday’s Division III tennis match between Coventry and Woonsocket came down to doubles. The hometown Oakers, after splitting their four singles contests with the Novans, went on to sweep all three doubles matches as part of a 5-2 victory on Senior Day. “It’s been a great season,”...
Confidence is king as Steere wins singles title and Barrington duo takes doubles crown
PAWTUCKET — There’s no secret as to how Josh Steere went from a player who couldn’t get past the quarterfinals to being a state tennis champion. The Ponaganset senior had it going into the season. It grew as he defeated the state's best, match after match. After dominating play for the first two days at the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Boys Tennis Singles State Championship, Steere’s confidence reached its peak and it showed. His 6-2, 6-0 win over Lincoln’s Camden DiChiara was something he had thought about for years and, with where his confidence was, there was no way it wasn’t going to happen.
Softball Game Recap: Barrington Comes Up Short
Barrington won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They lost 18-6 to the Lincoln Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Barrington of the 15-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
