ACBDD and Beacon School celebrate 2024 graduate
Beacon School and the Athens County Board of Developmental Disabilities (ACBDD) announces this year’s graduate — Alexis Highley. The milestone was made official during her graduation ceremony on May 17, in the school’s gymnasium. Highley, 21, has an easy-going personality with an infectious laugh, according to her teacher Samantha Dunlap. She loves music, dancing and socializing. She also has an interest in working and has been developing her skills during her time at Beacon. After graduation, Highley plans to continue working with a supported employment agency, spending time at home, exploring community engagement opportunities, and enjoying her hobbies.

SE Ohio Foodbank to host food distribution
LOGAN — The SE Ohio Foodbank, a program of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP), will distribute food at the SE Ohio Foodbank, 1005 CIC Drive, Logan, from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, May 31. Fresh produce and other food items will be available for residents of Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, and Washington countries who qualify for state benefits or with incomes under 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. To access food assistance a photo I.D. and proof of residency no more than 60 days old is required. Pre-registration is not required.
