    North Carolina man wins $1 million after buying $10 scratch-off at gas station

    ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Joseph Mclamb, of Jacksonville, bought a $10 scratch-off ticket and won the first $1 million top prize in a new scratch-off game, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.

    Mclamb bought his winning Ultimate Dash ticket from the Circle K on New Bern Highway in Jacksonville.

    When Mclamb arrived at lottery headquarters Wednesday, he had a decision to make.

    He could choose to receive his prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000.

    He chose the lump sum of $600,000.

    After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $429,003.
