Northeast Cobb buffet cited for fruit flies, food safety problems
NORTHEAST COBB — A northeast Cobb buffet passed its health inspection score by two points after an inspector found nine violations, including fruit flies, food storage issues and surface violations. Johnboy’s Home Cooking, located at 3050 Canton Road, received a 71 out of 100 during Thursday’s routine health inspection. “The inspector will come back, so we’ve addressed (the violations in the report),” manager Julie Lee told the Journal. “We have to perfectly clean up everything checked, I promise. Sorry about that.” Health inspections are conducted by the Georgia Department of Public Health. The score is categorized under the letter grade “C” for marginal compliance with the health code. There are four letter grades a restaurant can receive during an inspection: an “A” for scores between 90 and 100, a “B” for scores between 80 and 89, a “C” for scores between 70 and 79 and a “U” for an overall score of 69 or lower, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. The buffet previously scored a 75 this January and a 73 in December 2025. The establishment’s nine violations included improper food storage procedures, the presence of fruit flies and improper cooling methods. Seven of the nine violations

Southern rock legends Stillwater reunite after seven years for Perry show
BONAIRE, Ga. — The sound that once helped put middle Georgia on the Southern rock map is headed back to the stage, as Stillwater reunites after seven years away. Formed in Warner Robins in 1973, Stillwater came together as Southern rock was carving out a national spotlight. Members Mike Causey, Bobby Golden, Al Scarborough and Rob Walker, along with other bandmates, already knew one another from playing in other local groups. That hometown network eventually carried them to Capricorn Records in Macon, linking Stillwater to a Georgia music legacy that includes some of the genre’s biggest names.

Peanut butter on a hot dog? Even Mayor Miller is getting involved
Well, Macon, I’ve apparently started a controversy. And of all the things I could have possibly become known for in this wonderful city, I never imagined it would involve a hot dog, a jar of peanut butter and the Mayor of Macon! But here we are, and apparently my taste in hot dog toppings has become a matter of public discussion. Who knew that something so delicious could cause so much commotion? It all started during a recent episode of my Let’s Eat podcast about Macon Burger Week. One of my fellow Burger Squad members mentioned that cream cheese was an incredibly underrated topping for hamburgers. As we talked about unusual toppings, he suggested cream cheese might even be delicious on a hot dog. That’s when I casually mentioned that my absolute favorite hot dog topping is peanut butter. You would have thought I’d suggested putting motor oil on pancakes! The reactions were priceless, and apparently there are people walking among us who believe peanut butter belongs exclusively on sandwiches, crackers and celery sticks. To those people, I have just one thing to say. You’re missing out! I was recently on The Creek 100.9 on the morning show with Charles
