JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Capitol police arrested a 46-year-old man in connection to a bank robbery in Jackson.

The robbery happened at Trustmark Bank in the 500 block of State Street around 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2.

Police said a man walked into the bank and passed a note to the teller. The note demanded that the teller put money into a bag. Investigators said the teller did not see a weapon but complied with the note.

Authorities said the suspect, David Barrett, left the scene in a vehicle that was seen traveling toward Flowood. Officers later recovered the vehicle off of Lakeland Drive. They also recovered $734.50 that had been stolen from the bank.

On Friday, May 3, Capitol police arrested and charged Barrett with robbery. If convicted, he faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years and a $10,000 fine.

“Thank you to my officers and investigators, as well as the Jackson Police Department and Flowood Police Department, for your swift response to this case,” said Capitol Police Chief Bo Luckey. “Together, we demonstrate the power of collaboration and determination, and were able to get this criminal in custody and off our streets.”
