According to Everett, the autopsy did not reveal any type of foul play. However, Everett said the official determination may be made at a later time pending further testing.

Mabil was last seen around noon on March 25, 2024 , walking near North Jefferson Street in Jackson.

Attorney Lisa Ross, an attorney who is representing Mabil’s brother and son, said Judge Dewayne Thomas issued an order to prohibit burial or cremation of Mabil’s remains until the state can conduct an autopsy.
