(Iowa City, IA)- The Big Ten released their All-Conference recognitions as well as other season awards with three Iowa softball players able to take home honors. Freshman Jena Young was the star of the show for the Hawkeyes as she was named not just to the Big Ten All-Freshman team but the All-Big Ten First Team as well. After starting every game in 2024, the freshman would be statistically one of the hardest batters in the conference as she struck out less than any other starting batter. It’s the fourth time in four years a Hawkeye has found themselves on the All-Freshman squad.

Junior Rylie Moss was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team after a strong season for the Hawkeyes was cut short with a season-ending injury against Nebraska. Prior to the injury, Moss has started every game for Iowa and had been hitting .390 on the year.

Finally, senior Sammy Diaz would take home two honors for herself as she secured a spot on the All-Big Ten Defensive Team at first base with no errors in conference play in 2024. It’s the first time a Hawkeye has been named to the squad since 2017. Diaz also earned the Sportsmanship Award for Iowa.
