Crusaders softball falls in first round of playoff
The Immanuel Christian softball team was on the road for the first round of CIF-Central Division V playoffs. The Crusaders visited the No. 6 East Yosemite fifth place Porterville Panthers, and lost 11-1 in six innings. Immanuel went into the top of the sixth trailing 9-0 and scored its sole run but gave up two runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Crusaders finish the season with a 12-6 overall record and a sixth straight Hi-Lo championship with an undefeated record of 8-0.
Burroughs track and field celebrate athletes and season
The Burroughs track and field program held its annual banquet to commemorate the season and athletes. The Burros girls ended the season as Mojave River League champions and the Burros boys finished with a 3-2 season. Head Coach Tony Martin and the rest of his coaching staff gave out awards to the athletes after another successful season.
Horseshoes Pitchers compete in Break Wind Open
It was the Break Wind Open tournament for the Ridgecrest Horseshoes Pitchers Club at the horseshoe pits at Leroy Jackson Park. Jerry Hinman was the tournament champion with a high game of 55.2 percent and finished with 41.88 percent average for the day. John Rossi of Bakersfield finished in second place pitching 20 percent on the day and pitched 1.25 over the average. Hinman pitched 13.6 of the average to win the six pack of root beer.
