    Standouts and record-breakers: Vote for top performers of IHSAA track and field sectionals

    Here are the nominees for high school track and field athlete of the week for sectional performances. Get your votes in by noon Friday:

    Hannah Alexander, Noblesville: At Hamilton Southeastern, Alexander set a sectional record of 161-10 in the discus and won the shot put at 44-9 ¾.

    Kya Crooke, Heritage Christian: At Lawrence Central sectional, Crooke high jumped 5-11, which is No. 9 state history, and won the long jump (19-9) and 100 meters (12.11 seconds).

    Antwan Dorsett, Purdue Poly: The senior set a school record with a 6-7 high jump at the Lawrence Central sectional. He was just an inch away from the best sectional performance of any high jumper in the state in the sectional.

    Emma Gardner, Greenwood: At the Franklin sectional, the junior won the shot put (39-11 ½) and discus (131-10 ½). Gardner is currently ranked fifth in the state in the discus and seventh in the shot put.

    Jack Hearld, Danville: The junior won the 3,200 meters at the Plainfield sectional (9:20.67) to set a school record.

    Emarie Jackson, Greensburg: At the East Central sectional, Jackson set sectional and stadium records in the shot put (50-2 ¼) and discus (156-4).

    Owen Jackson, Oak Hill: The senior won all four of his events to help his team win its fifth consecutive sectional at Marion. Jackson won the 800 meters (1:58.27), 1,600 (4:25.06), 4x400 relay (3:26.78) and 4x800 relay (7:57.67).

    Izzy Neal, Brownsburg: The junior won sectional titles in the 100 (12.03 seconds) and 200 (25.15 seconds) and helped her 4x100 relay team to a second-place finish (48.15 seconds) as Brownsburg won the sectional at Zionsville.

    Ricky Sanders, Southport: In the sectional at Pike, the junior won the pole vault (13-0) and took second in the 300 hurdles (40.04 seconds). Sanders also ran on the 4x400-meter relay team that took third (3:27.83) and the fourth-place 4x100 relay team (43.26 seconds).

    Ashlyn Schwab, Brownsburg: At the Zionsville sectional, Schwab pole vaulted 12-6 to tie for the best in state this season.

    Devaughn Slaughter, Cathedral: The junior was the sectional champion in the 100 meters (11.00 seconds) and ran the third leg on the 4x100-meter runner-up relay team (42.02 seconds) that set a school record.

    Elnora Stevenson, Whiteland: The sophomore was a three-event winner to lead Whiteland to its first sectional championship. Stevenson won the 200 meters (25.48 seconds) and long jump (17-11) and anchored the winning 4x100 relay team (49.44 seconds).

    Tyler Tarter, Fishers: At Westfield sectional, Tarter won the 110 hurdles in 14.03 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 36.74 seconds , which is ranked No. 2 in state history.

    Marcus Townsend, Avon: At Plainfield, the junior won the 100-meter dash (10.60 seconds) and 200 (21.62 seconds) to sweep the events. He also anchored the 4x100-meter relay team to a second-place finish (42.13 seconds).

    Jila Vaden, Warren Central: At Warren Central, Vaden won a quadruple in the sectional . She was first in the 100 (12.10 seconds) and 200 (25.04 seconds), went a state-leading (20-0 ½) in the long jump, plus won the 4x400 relay.

    Ivan Weaver, Franklin Central: The senior was a four-event winner at the Greenfield-Central sectional, winning the 200 meters (21.99 seconds), 400 (49.28 seconds), 4x400 relay (3:19.72) and pole vault (14-0).
