INDIANAPOLIS — Officials with the office of Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales recently announced that the state has seen an increase in voter registration leading up to Tuesday’s primary election.

According to a news release, the office reports that an increase in voter registrations was seen in Indiana in the last month before April’s deadline. This data was compared to the number of voter registrations in the past five years.

The office cited its statewide voter outreach campaign as a cause of the registration increase. The release said that the office reached voters through schools, fairs, festivals, sporting events and parades.

The office also used various measures to promote the campaign, directing encouragement to individuals who would turn 18 years old by the November general election. Funding from various election improvement grants was also used for voter education and outreach activities.

“As a grassroots statewide elected official, I’ve been so passionate about our outreach and community engagement efforts as we’ve crisscrossed all 92 counties of the state for a second year in a row at a record pace,” Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales said in the release. “We are so encouraged to see more eligible Hoosiers registered to vote.  This is proof of our hard work.  Now it’s time to get out to the polls and vote.”

The office said continued outreach efforts are planned after Tuesday’s election, leading up to November’s general election. To see voting locations for Tuesday’s primary election, click here .
