IMPD: Man shot, killed on Indy’s near north side

UPDATE (5/6/24): The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 28-year-old Chad Alan Cardy.

UPDATE (5/4/24): IMPD confirmed that two individuals who were initially detained for their alleged role in the fatal shooting have been released after consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed early Saturday morning on Indy’s near north side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just after 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of East 38th Street on the report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they located the man outside of a residence with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident and have an individual detained.
