Man found shot on porch on Indy’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS – Neighbors heard a sound on the porch of their east side home early Tuesday morning.

Turns out the sound was a man moaning in pain because he’d been shot.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to a home in the 3900 block of East Michigan Street.

Police encountered a man who’d been shot. Residents told officers they heard someone moaning on the porch and discovered the victim.

Paramedics soon arrived to take the man to a hospital. Police said he’d been shot at a different location before seeking refuge on the porch.

Investigators didn’t disclose the severity of the man’s injuries or additional information about the shooting. The incident remains under investigation.
