INDIANAPOLIS — A pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash on the west side of Indianapolis Saturday night.

Wayne Township Fire Department officials who responded to the scene indicated an adult female was struck by a vehicle. The crash also resulted in a second vehicle ending up inside a nearby building.

WTFD indicated the car that ended up hitting the building is not currently believed to be the vehicle that struck the pedestrian. The driver that hit the building is believed to have swerved to avoid the pedestrian.

The driver that struck the pedestrian was not on the scene when FOX59 and CBS4 crews arrived, though it is unknown if the person fled the area after the crash. A public police report filed early Sunday morning indicates the crash is being investigated as a hit-and-run.

A WTFD spokesperson reported that the pedestrian was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition after the crash.

As of this article’s publication, no additional information on the incident had been made available.
