INDIANAPOLIS – A man was critically injured Thursday morning after someone fired shots into a home on the far east side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers received a call of a person shot in the 2200 block of Gable Drive just after 1 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a male inside the residence with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

“The shots came from outside. It is unknown the motive, but we do believe this house was a target for some reason. The current residents just moved into the house less than a month ago. So, it is unknown if it was meant towards these residents or the previous residents that were in the house,” said Capt. Don Weilhammer with IMPD.

Police at this time do not have any information about a suspect.

“We’re hoping that somebody did happen to see something,” Weilhammer said. “We haven’t been able to find any video info by looking, so hopefully somebody comes forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact IMPD at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
