Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark Make Embarrassing WNBA History in Loss to Liberty

Caitlin Clark’s WNBA career is off to a tough start. The Indiana Fever have lost their first two games of the season, and they haven’t even been close.

Clark scored 20 points but had 10 turnovers in Indiana’s 92-71 season-opening loss at the Connecticut Sun. Unfortunately, things got much worse Thursday night, as Sabrina Ionescu and the visiting New York Liberty crushed the Fever, 102-66. Clark finished with nine points, seven rebounds and six assists in the defeat.

The Fever didn't just lose their first two games; they lost them in historic fashion. Indiana has been outscored by a combined 57 points in their first two games of the season. That's WNBA history, as embarrassing as it is.

This just doesn’t make sense for a WNBA team that has Caitlin Clark and last year’s No. 1 overall draft pick, Aliyah Boston, on the roster. We’re talking about the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer and new face of the league in Clark. Is it a coaching issue? Are teams out for blood when they battle the Fever? Is Clark a bust? So many questions, so few answers.

If only there were a coach available who led Clark to the 2024 women’s NCAA title game earlier this year ...

Fans are calling on the Fever to fire head coach Christie Sides after just two games and hire former Iowa basketball coach Lisa Bluder to take over. It's not going to happen this early into the 2024 season, but don't be surprised if a change is made later this year.

Clark and the Fever are in for a long season if immediate changes aren't made.
