A Thermal man was acquitted Monday of causing the death of his infant daughter in a high-speed crash on the south end of Palm Desert. A Riverside jury deliberated nearly three days in the trial of 58-year-old Marcus Novell Green of Thermal before returning with not guilty verdicts on charges of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for the June 27, 2016, death of 5-month-old Armani Green.

PALM SPRINGS — Sidewalk vending has grown in popularity in recent years and with the growth comes increased issues. Much of them deal with basic cleanliness. The Riverside County Department of Environmental Health routinely inspects restaurants, food trucks, street vendors through unannounced visits. Male Brandishes Firearm at Dollar Tree
CATHEDRAL CITY — On June 4, at approximately 3:28 p.m., a customer inside of the Dollar Tree was confronted by a Hispanic male who brandished a firearm. The customer/victim lunged for the firearm, and a fight ensued, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Barnett. Two females accompanying the suspect attempted to assist the male and began to fight with the victim as well. Palm Springs history: Photos have always been a part of desert's 'social media'
In the 1930s, getting visitors to the desert was a difficult sales pitch. Beautiful pictures of attractive models around impressive pools provided just the needed allure. Endless sunshine and expansive water seemed exotic and a welcome respite from the doldrums of daily living. Models were often staged around hotel pools and photographed for use in brochures. The same images were sent to news services trying to drum up interest and perhaps business.
