Cougars cruise past Northern Nash in second round of baseball state playoffs
OCEAN — While you would think a second-round playoff game would be a nail-biter, the Croatan baseball team made it look easy. The Cougars routed Northern Nash 11-1 in a 10-run mercy-rule game Saturday night on their way to their second third-round, state-playoff berth in the last three seasons. The game was pushed to Saturday due to the threat of inclement weather on Friday.

OCEAN — The Croatan baseball team hit a couple of notable marks on Monday in its 8-0 win over Hunt in the third round of the 3A state playoffs. The No. 7-seed Cougars registered 20 wins for the first time in 15 years and earned a berth in the fourth round of the postseason for just the fourth time in program history and the first time in nine years.
