Volpone steps down as Castleton football coach
CASTLETON, Vt. (WCAX) - Tony Volpone is stepping down as head coach of the Castleton football program after ten years and nine seasons. Volpone took the Castleton job in 2014, and found immediate success with back to back seven-win seasons. He would finish with four winning campaigns out of his nine years and will step away as the program’s all-time leader in wins with 41. Castleton came out of COVID with a pair of seasons around the .500 mark, but fell off to the tune of a 2-7 record last Fall despite winning their first two games. Spartan alumnus and former defensive coordinator Tyler Higley will take the head coaching job on an interim basis.
