FREMONT — An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper suffered minor injury when an alleged drunken driver crashed into his cruiser in an Ohio Turnpike median crossover Monday night, the patrol reported.

Curtis A. Rogers, Jr., 33, of Huron, Ohio, was booked into the Sandusky County jail following the 11:50 p.m. crash in Rice Township, west of the State Rt. 53 interchange, on charges of third-degree aggravated vehicular assault and misdemeanor operating a vehicle while impaired, troopers from the patrol’s Milan post said.

According to the report, Mr. Rogers’ pickup truck was westbound when it went into the left shoulder and hit the marked Dodge Charger patrol car that was parked in a crossover. The trooper, who was not named, was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo for treatment, while Mr. Rogers was unhurt in the crash.
