Coroner identifies man killed after granite slab fell at Huntsville business

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A man was killed after an incident at a Huntsville business Wednesday morning, according to HEMSI.

Don Webster, a HEMSI spokesperson, said they responded to a business located at 11309 Memorial Pkwy Southwest. at about 10:30 a.m.

Webster confirmed a slab of granite fell on the man, and he died on the scene.

Madison County Coroner Tyler Berryhill identified 32-year-old John Hopper as the man killed in the incident. Berryhill confirmed he was an employee at the business.

That address is the one listed for Huntsville Granite & Marble LLC, a countertop store.

Police are investigating at this time, the coroner added.
