Dansville, N.Y. — Our Bright Spot shines on a fitting tribute to the woman who founded the first chapter of the American Red Cross back in 1881 in Dansville. A statue in Dansville was unveiled of Clara Barton on Saturday at the St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s churches who helped coordinate the project with the support of benefactors and sculptor Dexter Benedict.

Geneseo jewelry store owner celebrates retirement with storewide sale
After 35 years, David Mann, owner of David Mann Jewelers in Geneseo, Livingston County, announced his retirement. And to celebrate he is offering a 70% off storewide sale. Before taking over the jewelry store, Mann spent his weeks working in the food business. On the weekends, he helped his in-laws with their jewelry store in Geneseo until his father-in-law retired. In 1989, Mann purchased the store and changed the name to David Mann Jewelers.

The parents of a 17-year-old high school baseball star who died in a “freak” accident inside a batting cage have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against representatives of the school. Jeremy Medina died in 2023 from head injuries sustained during a Gainesville High School baseball practice after a fellow teammate hit him in the head with a bat.The teen’s parents, David and Yasmira, claim there were no adults present at the Thanksgiving break practice.The filing alleges it took three minutes for an adult to arrive at the batting cages after Medina was struck in the head and seven minutes...
