The Housing and Community Development Department has prepared its draft Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan, outlining objectives for the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Program funds from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. The Athens unemployment rate saw a slight increase last month, while the number of jobs and the labor force continued to rise. Athens recorded an unemployment rate of 3.1 percent in March, according to the Georgia Department of Labor. The rate is up two-tenths of point over the course of the month, but is the same rate as March of 2023.
