Hughesville, Pa. — For the second consecutive year, the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra will continue to partner with the Hughesville Area Public Library for an outdoor concert in Hughesville.

Set against the backdrop of the Lycoming County Fairgrounds, the event is scheduled on June 2 at 7 p.m., with activities commencing at 6 p.m. and the fairgrounds opening at 5:30 p.m.

Titled "Once Upon an Orchestra," the concert promises a meticulously curated selection of musical pieces performed by the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra paying tribute to the rugged allure of the Wild West. Highlight compositions include Aaron Copland's "From Rodeo: Saturday Night Waltz, Hoe-Down;" a soul-stirring rendition of "America the Beautiful" arranged by Alfred Reed; The Cowboy Overture by John Williams; and more.

Attendees can anticipate a dynamic fusion of classical and contemporary repertoire delivered by the exceptionally skilled musicians of the WSO. The East Lycoming School District’s High School Band will also perform, as well as the Hughesville High School Drama Club.

The event is free and open to the public, making it a perfect activity for families. Children of all ages will be able to participate in many fun activities from 6-7 p.m. including face painting, a balloon performance from Air Weaver Balloons, and various outdoor games. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic blankets or chairs to enjoy the beautiful evening while listening to music.

“We are thrilled to present this complimentary, family-centric outdoor concert in partnership with the Hughesville Area Public Library," said Hind Jabbour, WSO's director of operations. "It serves as a splendid occasion to unite our community in the enjoyment of cherished music and foster connections in a laid-back setting."

“We encourage everyone to attend and experience an unforgettable evening of music and community,” said Penny Johnson, HAPL Director.

“Once Upon an Orchestra” is made possible through the generosity of the Woodcock Foundation for the Appreciation of the Arts.
