Winemaker opening tasting room in Hudson

HUDSON, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Neverstill Wines , a Finger Lakes-based wine company, is opening up a tasting room in Hudson. The tasting room will be located at 739 Warren Street.

Neverstill Wines was founded in 2022 by Christy Counts. With an all-women team, the company focuses on sustainability through its bottling choices.

The wines are made from estate fruit sourced from Hidden View Vineyard on the west side of Seneca Lake. The company will initially be offering Riesling Dry, Chenin Blanc, Reserve Riesling Dry, and Cabernet Franc.

“One of the biggest hurdles with the wine industry is its carbon footprint,” said Counts. “Instead of shipping wines into New York from California or Europe, why not grow grapes and create wines here? Grape varieties such as Riesling benefit from the longer growing season of the region, and the cool climate wines of the Finger Lakes, characterized by their lighter bodies and lower alcohol content, align perfectly with evolving consumer preferences.”

Counts said she decided to open the tasting room in Hudson because of the city’s art, antiques, and cuisine. Neverstill Wines is hoping to release its first Estate Chardonnay in 2028.

The tasting room is being designed by the former creative director of ABC Carpet & Home, Amy Ilias. The Neverstill Tasting Room is currently undergoing renovations and is set to open in August.
