Wall cloud spotted over Verona
A strong cluster of severe thunderstorms formed this evening across the southern areas of Eastern NC. Prior to the storms developing, the Storm Prediction Center had Eastern NC under a General (Level 0) and Marginal (Level 1) severe risk of thunderstorms. The primary hazards included damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and large hail up to the size of quarters and golf balls. Initially, all severe weather ingredients in place did not suggest any tornadic potential.

New full-service License Plate Agency officially opens in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County — Jacksonville's new full-service License Plate Agency is officially open. Dozens of customers waited in line before the agency opened this morning, May 21 at 9:00 a.m. It replaces the old one-off Wilmington Highway that closed last November. A temporary express location that only offered limited services had been operating since January. However, with no full-service agency in Jacksonville for several months, some people tell us they had to make other arrangements.
