Granite City Football Warriors Keep Trying To Build On Each Week’s Progress
GRANITE CITY – Alton overcame an 85-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff to beat Granite and give Alton Head Coach Rick Reinhart his first win as the Redbirds’ head coach, with a handful of momentum-changing plays leaving the Warriors unable to recover, Coach Sherand Boyd, Jr., said after last week’s game. The Warriors struck first when Kaysen Emerson fielded the opening kickoff, changed fields and raced down the near sideline for a touchdown. A failed two-point conversion attempt left Granite ahead 6-0. Granite recovered an onside kick on the ensuing kickoff but could not capitalize, giving Alton the ball for the first time.

Note-taking isn’t a skill directly taught in all classes, so a lot of the time, students learn through trial and error. We figure out what works for us and what actually helps us learn.

Behind the scenes: Longhorn Council connects the West community
High school can be a scary place for anyone and everyone. From the new class of freshmen, who spend weeks wandering around the building lost, looking for classes or anyone they recognize, to the teachers who have just graduated and are hoping they don’t regret choosing to teach high school students over sweet elementary kids. Many high schools live up to the scary expectations people have; however, West High is not one of those schools because of our Longhorn Council (LOCO) members, like sophomore class president Sam Swiezynski, who work to make West a hospitable community for all.
